Beware the rumor of when you touch the freezing cold metal with your tongue it will get stuck! Your saliva freezes instantly, gluing your tongue to the metal object! Unless you have a warm cup of water to un stuck yourself don’t do it because you could cause serious damage to your tongue!
It is colder during the winter time because it is furthest from the sun? False!
Actually in winter we are closer to the sun! and in july we are furthest! Its not the distance that causes the seasons but the earths positions! It is tilted on its axis at a 23.5- degree. Even though we are closer in winter the northern hemisphere is tilted so the sun’s rays hit it less directly than they do in the summer! That is also why in the southern hemisphere they have reversed seasons!
An falling icicle can kill a person!?! What? Yes it is true! If the icicle is big enough and falls from a great enough height it can kill a person! Each winter in Russia around 100 people are killed or injured especially in Moscow because of the deadly combination of long cold winters and tall buildings!
By the way Eskimos do not have more than 100 words for snow! That’s a myth they might have different words for describing it but then again every culture does too!
